I have an older k&b 61 with the square carb and a small L shaped NEEDLE VALVE ADJUSTMENT with a lock nut on it .
Can this be change to a safer type needle valve ajuster?
Also to get this engine to run in the air it must be set to a very rich setting .Any suggestion please
Idle is fine on the ground

The K & B square block carbs were a royal pain! Replace it with a Perry carb, or with one of the new carbs from MECOA..

Actually the sq carb is fine. Ols K&B had some marginal idle needles about 25 yrs ago. The bigger problem is that the customer can force the idle needle into the end of the spraybar and cause it to flair or bell mouth. This is what really caused grief.
The idle needle can not perform its funtion correctly if the end of the spray bar is flaired.
