K&B Crankshaft Bearing's replacement

Postby loverofyahshua » Wed Sep 16, 2009 4:09 am

Greeting's,
I have a K&B 61 Engine all broken down, with NEW Ball bearing, to Install. I feel pits in them. Do I put the Engine casing in my oven, to heat up the enine to remove the crankshaft?
Thanks,
dj

No, tap or press the crankshaft out of the case. Then heat the case to get the bearings out. Heat the case to about 300 degrees, hold it with a gloved hand and whack it against a piece of wood to pop the bearing out. Clean the case and reheat it to put the new bearing in. You can put the new bearing on the crankshaft and push the bearing in that way. make sure it is completely seated in the case.
