Tubular Connecting Rod

I am currently rebuilding an older 7.5 outboard. Crank has .218 pin. The con rod I bought is the tubular style. How does it compate in strength to the flat machined style rod. It sure seems less substantial to me and weighs less too. Any thoughts.

The tubular rod is made makes better RPM's than the flat rod. It is made from higher strength alloy than the flat rod. The cause of rod failue is mostly due to
