K&B 65 Sportster back plate

Postby jetflyrf86 » Fri Feb 01, 2008 8:39 pm

A friend gave me this engine. I tried to turn it over and the piston would not bottom out in the case. I took the backplate cover off and could see that the piston skirt was hitting the the cover. Thinking this was not correct I ordered a new backplate on order #5739. There was not a picture of the backplate on the website, so I assumed it would have a cutout to allow the piston to travel to the bottom of the case. When I received the new part it was identical to the one I already have. What is the correct part for this engine, so I can get it functioning properly.

Your piston is in backwards. It has a cutout on the skirt on one side.
