Info on .61

Postby PaulR » Mon Oct 15, 2007 4:42 pm

I've got a K & B .61 and the only numbers I could find on it were on the left-hand side mounting flange, which are D0050041. I didn't have a lot of luck using the search here or the part numbers to find out more about this engine. It came in a 60" wingspan plane I got at a yard sale. It had a 12/6 prop on it, which sounds right for a slow heavy plane.

Can anyone point me to a place I can find out more about the engine, if parts are available, suitable for aircraft, etc. Thanks.

Additional information: the K & B logo is above the number 61 on the right hand side of the engine (model 6550?). The carb is square, has no remote needle, just a slightly bent arm coming out of a cone shaped carb side (also on the right side of the engine). I'm assuming this is the high speed adjustment. It has a bolt on head.

I don't know if it runs, but it appears in good condition. It came on a ship with newer frequency servos and receiver, which is why I grabbed it. It's been 40 years since I fooled with flying models and they've changed a fair bit, but the engines seems similar to what we used then.

I was most intrested in finding out what year the engine was.
