K&B .61 loose prop stud

Postby dok124 » Wed Jan 31, 2007 2:56 pm

Hi,
I just inherited a K&B .61(6550) which seems to be in excellent condition. However, while manually turning the prop stud (counterclockwise) I noticed it was loose in the crankshaft. I finger tightened the stud, put on a prop and after flipping the prop a few times everything seemed to work just fine. My question is, how tight should the prop stud be and what is the proper method for insuring the prop stud is apppropriately tight?
Thanks, Daniel.

The prop stud needs to screwed in 10-14 turns. It has to be a good tight fit but not enough to crush a wood propeller.

The stud doesn't know which end the nut is on and it doesn't have to be any tighter than normal.
