K&B 40 Sport Marine - No. 8060 - Need Help

Postby vaportrail » Thu Aug 31, 2006 12:29 pm

This is an old engine with an Irvine Carb. Never had much success with this combination. Extremely difficult to get running and than to stay running. Lost the info on the carb and need some settings to start with. This is a ringed engine and has some compression. Nothing like my nitro buggy engine (ABC). Do not know if this is normal or not. When it does run, it acts like it runs out of fuel. Has a tuned pipe with pressure fitting to the fuel tank. Can't tell if the engine is bad, or if it is operatior error. By no means an expert wrt Nitro engines, but my buggy and planes run great. Can't seem to get this one going. Help appreciated.

The Irvine carb wasn't the best but it did work.

The basics apply, read these and see if they help..

Thanks. Spent another afternoon using the recommendations. No luck. Had previously taken apart and cleaned the carb, so I'm confident it isn't debris related. Just won't run longer than 15 - 20 seconds.

Could this be sent in for repair?

I didn't see the MECOA .46 marine on the trade in list. Would that be a comparable engine. Not looking for a racing engine, just a sport engine.
Could I trade this in?

Thx

One last thing to check is a stuck ring.

This will keep it from running for more than a few seconds.

No sorry we don't have the trade in deal on the marine engines.
