I have a outboard 3.5...I was testing it today and noticed that it has a pinkish substance that comes out of the part where the lower unit attaches to the head...I need to know if i put a gasket there will that work?...and i know that it is exaust i think///my fuel is Pink and it looks just like the stuff that comes out of the exasust end...so why does this happen.I have the same egine on another boat and dont have the same problem?

possible the grease for the flex shaft mixing with the exhaust.

If it is just a slightly coming out, not much to do. If it is a lot then the PTO (power take off) plate should be replaced.
The fit between the shaft and the plate between the bearings is what seals the fuel/air mix in the engine.
If this area becomes worn from the bearings wearing out it will leaks excessively there.
