If it uses a snap ring to hold the wrist pin in the open end goes in first
If it uses a teflon pad the pad faces the out ant goes toward the boost port opposite the exhaust

I just purchased a new wrist with teflon pad.
the older I removed had the ring. This new with teflon needs to be locked or is it free to move a little bit as I noticed?

Remove the teflon pad if you use a snap ring or leave the teflon and let it float as per instructions above. It can have up to .060" movement.
