K&B Engine Identification

Postby jmoskwa » Mon Dec 20, 2010 10:59 am

I just traded for a 1/4 scale ARF Piper Cub. It had an old K&B Engine attached to it. The engine has a round head with four bolts. The needle valve is attached directly to the side of the carburetor. The only ID on the engine is the number "45" on the side of one of the mounting lugs. Outside diameter of the cylinder head is 1 3/4" Are there any manuals available for this engine and is it a 45, as the ID would indicate?
Thanks!

Sounds like a Sportster 65. Not the worlds greatest engine. If the airplane is really 1/4 scale not enough engine either. I have two 1/4 scale Cubs. One has an OS 120 Surpass and the other has a Zenoah G-38. Both considerably bigger engines.
