Need thrust washer Taifun 2.5cc diesel Rasant

Postby viking61 » Sun Aug 19, 2007 4:28 am

Have a engine that has a crack in thrust washer. Engine has very good compression but binds when tighten the prop bue to a crack. Shame as it looks like it would be a nice runner. Also could use a needle vale for same.

You will cause yourself (and [i][b]others) untold grief and confusion if you do not know the difference between Taipan and Taifun.

TAIPAN is/was an Australian brand of model engine manufactured by Gordon Burford and Co. [Taipan brand glowplugs are props are still being manufactured, but not by the original supplier]

TAIFUN is the name of a range of German made engines dating from the early 50's to the late 60's and manufactured by Hans Hornlein and Co. [He later went on to manufacture the Profi range of R/C engines.]

The Rasant is a plain bearing 2.5cc diesel of TAIFUN manufacture. There is a series 1 and a series 2 which are quite different in appearance. 'Valentine's Diesel shop' on Ebay deals on original and replica Taifun engines and parts. They're about the best bet for parts these days.
