ignition points spring

I have 4 or 5 Thorpe engines, I have only one with the spring still in tact on it. THe spring is flat spring steel 1/8 of inch thick and maybe 1 inch long, Bent in a about a 90 degree angle, It hold the points in the closed position until the cam on the crank comes around and breaks them open. Any help or sugesstions at all would be appreciated.

Did you ever contact the guy (Ed Shileen, I think) who was making repro Torps? I think he may have sold his mfg. rights by this time. I'm not sure if that's the type of spring you're looking for. Maybe you could make one from an old clock or windup toy spring.

I ended up making the springs out of a wind up alarm clock alarm spring right material. But thanks for the info.

Glad to hear you solved your problem. I made mine from an old clock spring many years ago when I was flying my "Zipper" with a Torp 29.
